Yes it will show the speed i did not look at distance on front of manual the number reads C249306860 on sticker of machine model# is 909.Talked to Dyaco Tec he said machine no longer around its 7years old since i bought it.He thought it might be the circuit board Kit #273556 which were sold to Sears Canada??? That needed to be replaced, I asked about the pickup sensor for the front roller he said that just gives speed and distance- ok but if its bad will it cause the machine to stop or increase and decrease in speed on its own which it did. Hope this helps Terry Yes it will show the speed i did not look at distance on front of manual the number reads C249306860 on sticker of machine model# is 909.Talked to Dyaco Tec he said machine no longer around its 7years old since i bought it.He thought it might be the circuit board Kit #273556 which were sold to Sears Canada??? It is likely the drive motor failing. You should disassemble the machine and test the incoming voltage to the motor and compare that to the motor's nameplate voltage rating. They are usually 90 VDC. Assuming the voltage is somewhere between 85 and 95 volts look at the motor. If not, work back into the controls looking for the voltage issue. As a DC powered motor fails you will get irregular speed control and erratic operation in general. As it finally fails all-together it will run slowly if at all with frequent stops if it does turn at all.
The brushes that ride on the commutator and the commutator itself are worn out. Brushes have a finite life as they wear down.
Hopefully you did not run the unit too long with the brushes worn out. Doing so leads to the shunt wire eventually shorting against the comm and that severely damages it. A local electric motor shop can test the comm and replace the brushes or you can just order the brushes and attempt to repair the comm yourself. If you are not familiar with repairing a DC motor it would be best left to the shop though.

Surely there is some problem in the belt. One of the ways to extend the life of your treadmill is to keep it clean and dust-free. Dirt and dust build-up, especially between the belt and the deck of your treadmill can cause excessive belt-deck friction. This in turn, can damage your electronics and even your motor.
You can check for excessive belt-deck friction by setting your treadmill around 4 MPH and walking on it. Press the stop button (or pull the emergency stop switch). You should have to take a few steps before the belt stops - if it stops suddenly there is probably a high friction problem. Excessive belt-deck friction can also cause motor to stall or sound labored so again, keep your belt and deck free from dust and dirct and look out if this is a problem Posted on Jan 26, 2011.
. Price: Spirit home treadmills cost about $900 – $2000 when purchased new. A wide variety of machines are available to suit different workout budgets. Audio: Some Spirit models come with audio ports and built-in speakers to provide extra motivation to exercise. Compact size: Several Spirit models can be folded to save space.
Their “soft drop” design makes the process easy on the user’s body. Consoles: Spirit consoles stand out from others. They are multi-colored but sleek and uncluttered, and the buttons are easy to press in the midst of running. Controls are also built into the handrails of some Spirit treadmills.
Convenience: Spirit treadmills are available through home delivery. Motors: The motors in some Spirit home treadmills are equal to or better than those of other treadmill brands in the same price categories.
Spirit’s top-of-the-line model for 2010, the XT675, has a 3.5 HP motor to support runners weighing up to 425 pounds. The Esprit ET6 has a 2.5 HP motor, which is adequate for most walkers and light joggers. Tracks: Some Spirit treadmill tracks are relatively tiny, but the brand’s best model, the XT675, boasts a 60”x22” track.
Warranties: Spirit treadmills now include 30-year or lifetime motor warranties, 1-year warranties on parts and labor, and 5-year frame warranties. What We Don’t Like.
Cheaper models: The quality of Spirit machines has a wide range. The cheaper models are noticeably less sturdy and less powerful than the more expensive models. The Esprit ET2, for instance, has a very small track (50”x20”) and a relatively weak 2 HP motor.
Our Verdict Spirit treadmills are well worth researching. Potential customers who are not concerned about having a treadmill TV or iFit reader will find these treadmills to be more than adequate. They are well-built, generally have roomy tracks, and feature great warranties.
The Spirit XT675 has an especially strong motor, a high weight capacity, and a built-in sound system.
